I've been trying to add more terrain features into battlefield. Like, last time in a solo I arranged a storage room full of unknown containers (burnable wine, gas mushroom, grease, restorative crystal, etc.) and a second level collapsable by attacking pillar. I added a brief high difficult skill challenge into it too, to force the player to choice whether to fight now or to stop something bad later.
The good news is, it does make the 30 turns 1 vs 2 more bearable. The bad news is, when the solo pc decided to focus his powers, the boss lost its remaining 1/4 hp in a single turn. No crit, no cheat. This has nothing to do with the battlefield, really, but still...
You see, I assumed the combat would end much earlier......
